A few weeks ago my parents came down to visit us for a long weekend. It was so nice to actually feel like you are on vacation even when you are at home! We enjoyed nice lunches and dinners together, along with some beach and pool time. Mom and Dad enjoyed a night at the Cloister for their anniversary, so we took advantage of the Sea Island facilities by getting drinks at the Lodge and laying by the pool at the Beach Club. Here are a few pictures of our night at the Lodge ~

To Grandmother's House We Go ...
This past weekend I went to visit my grandmother - or most of you know her by PoppieT! I had not been to visit her since before the wedding last summer, so it was definitely time for a visit! My mom and I drove over Saturday morning and we made our way to a little coffee shop to get some lunch. It was a neat little place that made their own coffee, and the owner collected antique coffee canisters and grinders! You know I love anything antique!
The rest of the afternoon was spent in antique shops, visiting relatives, and enjoying a nice dinner! Mom and I had such a good time at PoppieT's house playing with her dog, Tucker, and reminiscing through family heirlooms and photographs. Such great memories!
After lunch, we made our way over to one of Mom and PoppieT's friends homes that decorates and restores furniture to be shabby chic. She has this adorable little house in her back yard that has been used for tea parties, weddings, and photography shoots!
How beautiful is the inside? I love how light and clean everything looks!
I love the crystal chandelier. The shelves in the background were made from doors and posts off of old homes.
Inside Delaine's home was just as beautiful as her little house out back! I loved hearing all of the stories she told about each piece - everything had a background and was refurbished by she and her husband.
I love all of the candlesticks painted white on the mantle!
Such a pretty chandelier, and I love the painted ceiling for a pop of color!

New Blog!
I am excited to announce that I have started a new business blog - The Turquoise Nest!
Now, don't be sad about City Girl, Island Living - I'll still be posting on here too! I am going to keep CGIL as my personal blog, and The Turquoise Nest will be a place where I can talk more about my furniture and projects!

The Breakers, Palm Beach
Last weekend Johnathan and I celebrated our one year anniversary! It is hard to believe it has already been a year! We celebrated by going to The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida. The trip was absolutely amazing ~ here are a few pictures!
Driving around West Palm Beach before we checked in. We went down Worth Avenue (which is basically Rodeo Drive on the East Coast) and looked at some beautiful homes!
Arriving at the hotel!
Main Lobby of the Hotel
Here are some pictures of the resort and the beach. It is hard to explain in words or pictures how beautiful everything was!
Lots of pictures of each other :)
On the night of our anniversary, we at dinner at the Flagler Steakhouse on the resort - it was amazing!
When we got back to the room, Johnathan had a sweet surprise for me! He had wrapped a frame with a picture of a road bike in it! I am so excited that I get to pick out and get my own bike!
On our second night in Palm Beach, we ventured off the resort to a section in West Palm Beach called City Place. Its a really nice outside shopping area with retail shops and restaurants. We at at a really neat place called City Cellar. They have a huge selection of wine and a great menu!
We had such a fun trip and were so excited to get away for a few days. We are already brainstorming on where our next trip will be next year!
