4th of July Weekend

This past weekend, we left the beach behind us and headed to the lake for the 4th of July! It was so nice to have an extra long weekend to spend with friends and family. Here are a few pictures from the weekend!

Maggie, David, Amy and Chris all made the trek across the lake to stop by for a visit!

Baxter made himself right at home :)

Everyone floating in the water ...

 Johnathan enjoying the relaxation station!

Saturday night, I made a "Star Spangled" Apple Pie for dessert!

Sunday was another beautiful day where we enjoyed time swimming around the dock. Maya loves the water!

We had not been tubing in forever, so it was a lot of fun to get out on the water! Here are some pics of Johnathan with Mark - they really wanted to throw each other off!

Thankfully Johnathan was not as competitive with me, yet I fell off on my own!

It was such a fun weekend - now I am counting down the days until our anniversary trip - we are headed to The Breakers in Palm Beach, FL!

{DIY} Project - Custom Corkboard

At our household, we receive a ridiculous amount of mail. I mean, its obsurd. I'd say about 90% of it is JUNK! I wish I could say that I am so organized with it, and that every day I take the time to sort through it all, but that just doesn't happen. It gets piled up in our "mail bowl" and important things dissapear to the bottom.

Well, what is my solution? A corkboard where we can put all of our important documents! So off I went to the store in search. What did I find? Your typical, brown on brown corkboards. I mean, who wants to put up in their house that looks like it should belong in an office? Not me! So here is what I did:

First, painted the frame white:

Second: found a fabric that I liked (purchased at Fabric World for only $2.99/yard!) and cut it to the dimensions of the cork board:

Third: placed the neatly pressed fabric on the inner frame of the cork board and tacked it down with white thumb tacks:

End Result: A cute board for us to have all of our important documents!

Note: I still need to hang this, but it was so late the other night I didn't have time ... I'll post the final placement once it is up!

{I heart} Fabric World

Hello Friends! Last week when I was in Atlanta for the Elizabeth Musser event, I had to stop by my favorite fabric shop - Fabric World! It's a huge warehouse filled with discounted fabrics. Look at the prices - can you believe all of the fabrics are $3.99/yard or less?

I found so many patterns that I loved! Hence, the cart below ...

I have so many fun ideas and plans for the fabric - I'll be sure to keep you posted on how the projects are coming along!

Elizabeth Musser

Hey Friends! Earlier this week I made a quick trip to Atlanta to attend a women's event at my home town church featuring Elizabeth Musser. Some of you may have heard of her, but for those of you who haven't, she is a writer who grew up in Atlanta and now lives in France doing mission work as well as writing! One of her most famous books is The Swan House - it is such a great book - it is set in the city of Atlanta which is really neat!

It was also really special to get to see my Mom, sister, grandmother, along with some of my aunts and cousins!

Here is a quick shot of the beautiful tablescape that my grandmother did for our table. She used all vintage items from my great-grandmothers house, so it was so special to learn about the family heirlooms!

I can't wait for the next ladie's event this coming November - featuring Gena Knox!
