{Painted Furniture} - China Cabinet

Hello friends! I hope you all are doing well on this lovely Friday afternoon! Even though the weather was terrible yesterday, it is absolutely beautiful today on the island! Not a cloud in the sky and 70 degrees - what more could you ask for?

Today I want to share with you my before and after pictures of my latest project - the china cabinet! I posted a few weeks ago about my next project, so here are the after pictures!

Here is a quick picture I snapped after I placed it in the antique shop

And now with some accessories!

I am really pleased with how it turned out. The color is painted Sedate Gray by Sherwin Williams, and the inside is painted Creamy by Sherwin Williams.

This is for sale at 1610 Antiques, so stop by and check it out if you are interested!

Alex and Annette's Wedding Weekend!

This past weekend Johnathan and I traveled to Donalsonville, Georgia for Alex and Annette's wedding! We had so much fun, and there are pictures to prove it! We arrived Friday afternoon to Southwinds Plantation where we stayed for the weekend. It was absolutely beautiful farmland with a hunting lodge on a pond for the boys to fish and shoot skeet! Here are a few pictures of the property:

Saturday during the day, the wives and girlfriends of the groomsmen went to Colquitt, Georgia for the Mayhaw festival! We had no idea what to expect, but it ended up being a lot of fun for the afternoon! We all got ready and headed to the church for the ceremony. Here are some pictures of the church and the ceremony.

The reception was held at the brides home only a few miles from the church. They could not have asked for better weather and it was the perfect setting! Beautiful chandeliers hung from the trees, along with plenty of tables and lots to eat and drink!

I think this is the best picture from the night. Lauren and I are posing by the fountain, and then I accidentally spilled some of my drink on our feet, and Johnathan caught our expressions at the exact moment! Too funny!

All of the groomsmen sang "You've Lost that Lovin' Feeling" for Alex and Annette! Definitely appropriate since Alex is a fighter pilot!
The night turned into a big cake fight and then people getting thrown into the pool! Thankfully Johnathan and I were bystanders and we didn't get hit with the cake or thrown in the pool!

We had so much fun the entire weekend and enjoyed seeing so many of our friends! Can't wait 'til the next wedding!

{Recipes) - Breakfast

Hello Friends! I am going to apologize in advance for the random post and the poor quality picture taken with my phone, but I wanted to share with all of you what I have been loving for breakfast recently! I absolutely love Chobani yogurt. I have seriously been eating one for breakfast every morning for the past couple of weeks. It has 14 grams of protein and is all natural! I am not a huge fan of the plain flavor, but the ones that have fruit on the bottom are so good!

In addition to the yogurt, I typically have a granola bar or cereal. Well, I was watching Barefoot Contessa yesterday and she made Homemade Granola Bars. I have always been intimidated about making my own granola, because it normally turns out weird or doesn't taste very good, but let me tell you, these turned out really good! The recipe is listed below:

Homemade Granola Bars

2 cups old-fashioned oatmeal
1 cup sliced almonds
1 cup shredded coconut, loosely packed
1/2 cup flax seed (the original recipe called for wheat germ, but I didn't have that on hand)
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
2/3 cup honey
1/4 cup light brown sugar, lightly packed
1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup dried apricots
1/2 cup dried cranberries

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Butter an 8 x 12-inch baking dish and line it with parchment paper. Spray with parchment paper with cooking spray once lined in the pan.

On a separate sheet pan, toss the oatmeal, almonds, and coconut together and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned. Transfer the mixture to a large mixing bowl and stir in the flax seed.

Reduce the oven temperature to 300 degrees.

Place the butter, honey, brown sugar, vanilla, and salt in a small saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Cook and stir for a minute, then pour over the toasted oatmeal mixture. Add the raisins, apricots, and cranberries and stir well.

Pour the mixture into the prepared pan. Wet your fingers and lightly press the mixture evenly into the pan. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until light golden brown. Cool for at least 2 to 3 hours before cutting into squares. Serve at room temperature.

Enjoy!

Weekend Update

Hi Friends! I hope you are all doing well and had a wonderful weekend!

First, let me give you an update on the booth progress. So, we finally got our stuff set up Saturday morning! It was a lot of fun, but we definitely realized that we need more stuff! After seeing everything on my sun porch, I didn't think we would need much more, but it turns out that we do! More projects updates to come this week, hopefully! Here are some pictures of the initial set up:

Friday night Johnathan and I went with Dustin and Stacy, Thea and Lucas, and Brendan and Katie to the Blessing of the Fleet in Darien. We had so much fun! We had hoped to take the boat, but it ended up being too windy and chilly, so we drove instead. Rhett Akins was the entertainment for the night, and he was so good! I didn't have high expectations since his last hit was in the 90s, but he is a song writer now and has a lot of hits on the radio with other big name performers. Here are some pics from the night:
Brendan and his turkey leg!
Look who was in town and joined us?! We had so much fun!

{Painted Furniture} - Desk

Happy Friday Everyone! Here is a quick post about the desk I just finished last night. I found this at an estate sale a few weeks back. I thought it looks a little drab being the dark brown, and the hardware wasn't accentuated. Here is a before picture:

And the after picture:

I painted the inside of the desk drawers to give it an extra pop:

This will be for sale this weekend in our new booth at 1610 Antiques!
