A Surprise Weekend

This past weekend I surprised Johnathan with an early birthday present by taking him to Athens! I had told him not to make any plans for the weekend but to be sure to pack a bag because we were going out of town. When we got in the car Friday afternoon, I couldn't keep the surprise any longer and ended up telling him where we were going because I was so excited!

Friday night we went to the Georgia Theater to hear the band Yacht Rock,  a 70s and 80s cover band. We had heard them another time in Atlanta, so I knew it was going to be a blast!

On Saturday morning, we went to Last Resort, one of the best restaurants in Athens! They have such a good menu, and our meals were amazing! After lunch we walked around downtown, headed to the Arch, and walked around North Campus. It was such a pretty day, and so nice to be back in our college town!

Saturday afternoon we headed to Atlanta to surprise one of our dear friends, Ryals, for his 30th birthday! He knew we were coming to go to dinner with him, but little did he know that all of his other friends and family would be waiting on him at the restaurant! Lauren did such a good job surprising him. I think my favorite part of the evening was his DQ ice cream cake, which spelled his name "Ryalas" - hmm, oh well - it tasted good regardless!

We had such a good weekend getting away together and spending time with friends. Check back in a few weeks for more 30th birthday celebrations to come!

It's been a while ...

I apologize that it has been so long since the last time I did a blog post! We have been very busy and I don't know where the time has gone! It is hard to believe it is December already. Below are a few pictures from the month of November!

I traveled to Atlanta to go to the GA/Auburn game with my parents, Lauren and Mark! We had a great time tailgating and the game was a blast! I am so excited we won!

At the start of the 3rd quarter, I got a call from Lauren and Ryals and met them down
by the hedges to say hello! We had a great view and took a few quick pics before the security guard made us move! So glad I got to see them for a minute!

Here's a pic of me and Mom packed into our seats - there were so many people! Also, I had to take a picture with my dad  - we took the same picture from their seats back in 2008 when he and I went to the game together!

The Tuesday night after the GA/Auburn game, the church were my family attends hosted our Annual Ladies Christmas Event. Our speaker for the night was Gena Knox, and I am so glad my friends were able to join us and hear her speak! We love her cookbooks, so of course we jumped at the chance to see her in person!

A week after the football game and Ladies Event, Johnathan and I traveled back to Atlanta for Thanksgiving! I was terrible about taking pictures that weekend, but here are two from PoppieT's house on Thanksgiving Day!

GA/FL Weekend - continued!

Friday evening of the Georgia-Florida weekend, we took Lauren and Mark to one of our favorite restaurants on the island - Sal's pizza! It is a little dive that only has 11 tables, which normally means they are really busy, but it is worth the wait! We stuffed ourselves with garlic bread, margarita and supreme pizza, and then to finish the meal, an amazing piece of cheesecake with fresh blueberry topping! All I can say is it was goodness in my belly!

Saturday morning we left to head to Jacksonville around 9 am. Last year when we went to the game we found this great tailgating spot, and thankfully we found it again this year! Its within walking distance of the stadium and has a nice grass lot to set up the tent and chairs. Other than it being unusually cold for most of the day (hence me being wrapped in a blanket in the picture below) the tailgate was a lot of fun! Our friends Dustin and Stacy joined us at the game, and we had a great time!
Here's a pic towards the end of the game. Even though we were leading, it wasn't by much, but clearly the Florida fans had given up - look at the difference in the fans still in the stadium!
Woo hoo! Georgia wins 24-20. Now onto the Auburn game this weekend, and then hopefully the SEC Championship!

GA/FL Weekend

This past weekend Johnathan and I were so excited to spend the weekend with friends for the annual GA/FL game in SSI! We started off the weekend by heading to Brogan's on Friday afternoon right after work. We met up with some local friends for a few drinks and then headed to dinner at The Red Barn. Johnathan and I were so excited to get a text from Lauren and Ryals telling us that Ryals had passed the bar exam! After dinner, we headed to Ziggy's to celebrate with them. (I think I am Ziggy-ed out! 3 times in 7 days, I may need a break!)

Saturday morning we got up and left around 9 am to head to Jacksonville! Our friends, Stacy and Dustin Paulk, came with us to the game. We were kind of nervous about not having a parking spot, but we ended up getting in a great lot right by the stadium and set up to tailgate! We had a lot of fun just hanging out and enjoying the nice fall day before going to the stadium.

The game was a lot of fun, despite Georgia's loss! The game was exciting and it kept us on our toes the whole time.

After the game we were able to get out of Jacksonville pretty quickly which was nice! We were all starving so we stopped at this little hole in the wall Mexican Restaurant which was really good! We got home at about 10 pm and crashed from such a long day!

Sunday morning we woke up from our 10 hour coma (how we slept that long I do not know!) and began our lazy day of no plans! Lauren and Ryals, along with James, John and his girlfriend Kelsey, stopped by on their way out of town to see us for a bit. It was nice to see all of them one more time before they headed back to ATL! That afternoon I made some minestrone soup and I was pleased it turned out so well! I made so much that we will have plenty for this week and even more to freeze! Sunday evening I was prepared to have lots of trick-or-treaters, and no one ever came! Wah waah waaahhh! So sad! I think a lot of the local kids go to bigger neighborhoods, but I couldn't believe we didn't have one!

Alright, that's about it! This weekend I have absolutely nothing planned, so I am trying to brainstorm on some fun things to do! Any suggestions??
